Reflecting on Writing

Today is an important day, and in many ways, it's also a right of passage: the turning in--eek!--of your first English portfolio for me (Dr. Brigman). But before we turn in our papers, I want to spend class today thinking about ourselves as writers.

Using the chalkboard areas titled, "Think," "Puzzle," "Explore" and the sticky notes in front of you, answer the following questions:

THINK
- What do you think you know about your writing?*

and/or

- What do you think you know about writing?*
*Notice how I didn't say "What do you know about writing?" which is a very different question. You should be answering, "What do you think you know...."

PUZZLE
- What still confuses you about your writing?

and/or

- What still confuses you about writing in general?

EXPLORE
- What do you want to know more about yourself as a writer?

and/or

-What do you want to know more about writing?

After everyone has posted, I'll go around the room and read out answers, grouping like answers together. As I do so, please copy down your answers to these questions along with one more: "How do you like to receive feedback on your writing?" Please share your answers with the class during discussion!
