J-Term Day 4: Upgrades!
Over the last few days, I've worked hard to make sure all students have weaponry, armor, and jewelry that is appropriate for their class and level. For today, I want us to reflect on how your character is improving as the story line progresses.
In the comments section below, please write the following:
-Your Morale (green line)
-Your Power (blue line)
-Your primary stat (e.g., might, will, agility)
-Your secondary stat (e.g., vitality)
Then, upgrade your gear by slotting the new clothing, weaponry, and jewelry I sent you in the mail and record your new stats (same as above).
When you have finished, please reflect on your upgrades: what changed for you as a character? How do you imagine you will be better equipped for battle in the game? Lastly--and perhaps most importantly--discuss what you have learned about your character and class.
Morale: 1231
ReplyDeletePower: 911
Primary Star: Might 71
Secondary Stat: Vitality 88
Morale: Same
Power: Same
Primary Stat: Might 59
Secondary Stat: Vitality 94
After replacing my armor my might as actually decreased somehow and my vitality increased. This will mean that my damage will be low and I will not parry as much. At the same time, increasing my vitality will increase my morale so I can tank more for my team. By looking at what is my primary and secondary stat, I begin to understand that my role as a character is not only about damage, but also tanking for my team. By tanking for my team the OP hunters will be able to one shot enemies without taking damage.
Morale: 1138 --> 1267
ReplyDeletePower: 950 --> 968
primary stat (might): 32 --> 38
Secondary (vitality): 65 --> 84
Seeing from the benefits that the gear provide, I can see that power is not very important to my character's class. Also, I observed that for every 19 points that my vitality score increased, the maximum morale increased by 129. This character's purpose clearly is to draw the fire from enemies. Since the might stat is relatively low, and the weapons and abilities of the character have low damage, this character may need to rely on higher dps characters with lower morale pools to defeat stronger enemies. This character can do this by using taunting abilities or by being the first one to rush into battle.

I hope this will make my one shots more powerful
DeleteJonathan, Could you take a moment to finish the writing prompt, please? I am pasting the above instructions below. As you answer, you might consider what you mean by "one shots" when discussing your class if this strategy really interests you. Perhaps reflect on what kinds of mobs you will be "one-shooting" and what skills you will be using to do so.

I believe this will make me more powerful, morale wise, in battle. I will live longer.
DeleteMy character plays a major role in moving people along through instances, battles, etc. I deal most of the damage, and due to this, people rely on me to push through and kill enemies
Without Briggun's Armor/With Briggun's Armor
ReplyDeleteMorale: 778/803
Power: 1300/1314
Primary Stat (Will): 52/76
Vitality: 54/60
While most of my stats did not change considerably after applying the armor, my will made a significant leap. For a minstrel, will increases mitigation of incoming damage and increases outgoing damage, so this obviously will make fighting enemies more easy for my character. As for my character, I am a minstrel working on the yellow line, which means more healing for our fellowship. This means that I don't do to much damage, but can heal anyone who takes it, dramatically increasing the survivability of the party. The minstrel class in general is meant to be a support class, with most abilities dedicated to healing other players or helping them in some other way. The abilities are meant to represent encouraging songs, with names like "ballad of _", "anthem _", and "_ melody". My character also helps others outside of combat. I have completed every quest in The Shire, resolving problems for my kindred. Finally, although killing things is a major part of every MMO, I try to avoid combat outside of quests because there is no reason to kill wild creatures at that time (even if I fervently slaughter them to help some other being...). Aslo enrf hyuntre pls.
Before the new armour:
ReplyDeleteMorale: 1108
Power: 1248
Armour: 769
Might: 36
Agility: 73
With the new armour:
Morale: 1159
Power: 1241
Armour: 1204
Might: 36
Agility: 107
Overall, I am happy with the changes that the new armour brought. The jump in morale, and the huge leap in armour were impressive, and much needed by my Burglar. Although not shown, my other stats did go down a bit. My power also went down a small amount, but I find that morale is more useful to me. In general, I can take more damage now, which will help me to survive longer and battle, thus, doing better.
I have learned that handling hobbits isn't much different from handling an elf. At a low level, I am not very impressed with the Burlgar class. I tend to die quite quickly and I can't deal much damage. However, I have been told by Dr. Brigman that it does indeed get better for that class.
Bare/New Armor
ReplyDeleteMorale: 1076/1411
Power: 1966/1989
Armor: 120/1184
Will: 71/136
Vitality: 93/156
This new armor almost doubled my will, and gave me massive increases in everything else except for power. This makes me much more effective at both surviving in combat and dealing damage. Lore-wise, I believe that this new gear would represent the minstrel becoming more skilled at his craft and purpose of helping others, with his armor tailored to fit that. By making him stronger, the armor allows him to further assist, and even entertain, all around him.
When I got my new armor, my morale went up by about 4000, my power did not change, my armor went up over 1000, and my main stat Agility tripled, with my vitality gaining a boost in about 60 as well. As a hunter, my main role is to dps. This new armor has increased my dps markedly; however, as I could one shot everything both before and after, this was not changed. Therefore, my main increase I saw was my tankiness. I went from being fairly squishy to an unkillable being. From this, I could easily carry team fights and also handle myself alone.
